Happy 90th Birthday, SDL!

SDL has been serving our community since 1936!

The Port Sanilac Public Library was officially recognized by the State of Michigan on August 25, 1936. The library grew and on April 6, 1955,  Port Sanilac Public Library extended its service area and became Sanilac Township Library. The library kept growing and was reestablished as Sanilac District Library on  February 25, 1998.

SDL has been growing to meet the needs of our community for over 90 years. Each improvement represents the increasing number of  people who use SDL and the changes required to supply their needs for library service.

SDL has been housed in five locations. SDL’s current facility opened on   October 31, 1987.  In 2001, SDL was again bursting at the seams and expanded building in 2001.

SDL has managed and operated the CPS Elementary and High School Libraries since November 2015.
